Obelisk in front of the school

There was a jubilee monument in the shape of an obelisk at the old school No. 2.

Dětřichov (Dittersdach) is a village in the district of Liberec. It is located in the Frýdlant ridge about 4 km southwest of the town of Frýdlant. The Oleška river flows through it.

On August 16, 1908, a jubilee monument in the shape of a 3.5 m high obelisk was unveiled near the old school No. 2. The monument was decorated with a relief of the emperor made of white marble and the years 1848 – 1908. The obelisk was the work of the master stonemason Karel Morch from Oldřichov, the relief was made by the Frýdlan sculptor Ernst Blumrich.

For the 80th anniversary of the emperor's life, 2 commemorative plaques were attached to the obelisk on August 14, 1910. The first plaque shows the school's consecration date, 1900 as the "Emperor Franz Josef School" for its 70th life anniversary. On the other plate are the names of the members of the municipal council, school, etc.

Upon my inquiry, to my great joy, the school principal sent me a photo of the commemorative plaques with the following text:

Hello Mr Danek,
we have 2 boards placed in the school, we found them in the basement. Apparently they were originally
umístěny ve výklencích hlavního vchodu do školy. foto je v příloze
