The building of the provostship - the memorial plaque of Emperor FJI.

In Dub nad Moravou, only 10 km south of Olomouc, an area was built in the middle of the 18th century, the dominant feature of which is the pilgrimage church of the Purification of the Virgin Mary. It is a beautiful highly baroque temple with two 59 meter high towers.

On July 15, 1866, the battle of Tovačov took place between Prussian and Austrian troops, which also affected Dub nad Moravou. On October 21, 1866, Emperor FJI visited Dub nad Moravou during his tour of the battle sites. . This visit is described in the Olomouc newspaper from Wednesday, October 31, 1866. All mayors from the affected municipalities were invited to the provost's house, where Emperor FJI spoke to them. :

“ Slyšel jsem, že jste letos trpěli mnoho. Bolelo  mne to také. Chci býti dle možností nápomocen, abych ulevil bídě vaší.“

The provost then spoke for all the residents affected by the battle. J.V. the emperor ordered that the provost be paid 3,000 zlotys, which were distributed among the population.

In honor of this event, on March 3, 1867, on the provost's building, between the left two windows on the left side, a commemorative plaque was placed with the text:

"His Majesty Emperor and King Francis Joseph I.,

inspecting the battlefield here on July 15,

the house honored this supreme with a visit on October 21, 1866."

This plaque has not yet been found.

However, a cannon ball from the battle in 1866 has been preserved, which is embedded in the plaster of the rectory in the place where the memorial plaque used to be.
