             Franz Josef Quelle spring

The name of the spring gradually changed -  Franz Josef Quelle - Filipp Klein Quelle - U Vousáče spring

The spring exists on the blue-marked tourist path from Jeseník to Křížová Hora, about 300 m above the English Spring. It was built sometime before 1858 (perhaps in 1849). It was named Franz Josef – Quelle in honor of the new Austrian emperor. Originally, it was wrongly assumed that it was built to honor the visit of Emperor FJI. in Frývaldov in 1860. It had a cairn made of larger stones and rock fragments stacked in the shape of a block, a marble slab with the name of the spring and a marble outlet for water.
In 1898, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the reign of Francis Joseph I, it was rebuilt in its present form. The mound is a natural rock made of two pieces cut together and adjusted to a height of around 4 meters. In the upper part, a circular plate with the image of the emperor was inserted, and below a marble plate with a text Franz Josef-Quelle 1848-1898. The outlet was a hole in the rock and the drain into a hewn stone tub. The area around the spring was also improved, a wooden gazebo and benches for tourists were built.
Another modification of the spring took place on June 5, 1925, after an unknown perpetrator broke the portrait of the former monarch. The destroyed medallion was replaced by a portrait of the chairman of the Moravian-Silesian Sudeten Mountain Association (MSSGV) on a marble slab. The stone mound was preserved. The name of the spring was changed and the information board was replaced by a new one with the inscription Filipp Klein – Quelle. Filipp Klein was a founding member of the local Moravian-Silesian Sudeten Mountain Association (MSSGV) and its long-time chairman, mayor and also an honorary citizen of the town.
After 1945, the plate with the name of the spring was removed and the spring was renamed "U vousáče".

Sometime in the 1970s, the effigy of Filippo Klein was removed.
On December 19, 2000, at the 68th meeting of the Jeseník City Council, resolution No. 1631 was adopted, which the City Council approves the result of the invited competition for the contractor of the work "Repair of 4 springs in the area of Zlaté Chlum - U Obrázku, U Vousáče, Pod Chlumem, Mločí pramen" and instructs the SRM department to conclude a contract for the work with the company Milan Šmerda – Kámen, Supíkovice 133 according to the explanatory report. In 2001, the symbolic portrait of Vousáče, artistically rendered by Roman Boreček, was restored and the inscription "U Vousáče" was added to the marble plaque above the spring.
