The celebration of the promotion of the village to a small town and the unveiling of the monument to J.V. emperors and kings

A very beautiful and significant celebration was held on July 28, 1912 in Ostrov u Macochy. On 5 March t.r. the island was elevated to a township by His Majesty the Emperor. The promotion ceremony did not take place until July 28, and that is because the new town wanted to have a different face for the ceremony. The parish church was repaired, the tower was raised and equipped with a clock, a new park was established and a beautiful monument to His Majesty Emperor Francis Joseph I was built in it. The monument is half a meter high - built from stalactite formations. A commemorative plaque commemorating the promotion to township is placed on the monument.

Taken from the Našinec newspaper from Thursday, August 1, 1912, pp. 1, 2.

among other things, one can find the clarification that the bust of His Majesty and the commemorative plaque were donated to the town by the director of the iron works, Mr. Šteckl. If Mr. Šteckl was the director of the Blanen ironworks, the busts would probably be by the sculptor Tillinger, because the Blanen ironworks produced them at that time.
