Memorial plaque on the town hall staircase<\/h1>\n

Fr\u00fddlant (German Friedland, sometimes also Fr\u00fddlant in Bohemia) is a town in the north of Bohemia located in the Liberec district in the Liberec region. It is located in the Fr\u00fddlantsky promontory on the edge of the Jizera Mountains.<\/p>\n

The town hall building is built in the German Neo-Renaissance style from rough unplastered chimney bricks \/only the courtyard has plaster\/, cornices, shields and decorations are carved from sandstone. The corner tower is 48 m high. Above the two balconies and the clock there is a walkway, four corner turrets and the highest chiselled roof topped with two poppies. The facade of the two-story building is made up of an arch supporting a balcony, above which there is a large paired stained-glass window of the main hall. On its sides, the facade is decorated with sculptures from the workshop of the Viennese sculptor Friedel: the left one is an allegory of work and sacrifice, the right one of loyalty and justice. The shield is dominated by the city coat of arms held by two pages. Other artists also participated in the decoration of the town hall: the Raspenava sculptor Heinrich Scholz, who created the bust of Albrecht of Wallenstein, located on the staircase, Johann Ressel, the author of the stained glass windows, R.H. Schwinenbauch, the painter of the picture of Fr\u00fddlant, hung in the ceremonial hall, Lederle, the creator of wood-fired paintings, also hanging in the ceremonial hall. Above the Vald\u0161tejnov\u00e1 bust, there used to be a commemorative plaque on the staircase with the text in German:<\/p>\n

\"During the reign of His Majesty Emperor Franz Joseph I, the German town of Fr\u00fddlant built this town hall in the years 1892-1896, during the administration of Mayor Johann Kraus, according to the plans of the c.k. of the building council of Franz Knight Neumann from Vienna through the local builder Wilhelm St\u00e1rz. Fr\u00fddlantsk\u00e1 spo\u0159itelna under the leadership of director Heinrich Ehrlich made this construction possible with their contributions.\"<\/strong><\/p>\n
