Restoration of the memorial inscription on the cross, a story of perseverance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The village of Hrab\u011b\u0161\u00edn (German: Hrabeschin) is located in the district of Kutn\u00e1 Hora, region of St\u0159edo\u010desk\u00fd, about 13 km southeast of Kutn\u00e1 Hora and 9 km southwest of the town of \u010c\u00e1slav.<\/p>\n

Behind the inscription on the cross in Hrab\u011b\u0161\u00edn is the story of what a person can do in pursuit of his goal. Mr. Jaroslav Kun\u00e1\u0161ek from Hrab\u011b\u0161\u00edn turned to the Emperor Franti\u0161ek Josef Museum to help him find the cut-off text on the cross in the village, after which only the years 1848 to 1898 remained, the inscription Praise be Lord Jesus Christ and the Village of Hrab\u011b\u0161\u00edn. There was only an entry in the municipal chronicle:<\/p>\n

In 1898, a marble cross was erected near the school to commemorate the 50-year reign of Emperor Francis Joseph, the dedication was removed in 1918.<\/p>\n

We sent Mr. Kun\u00e1\u0161ek a link to the archive fund in SOkA Kutn\u00e1 Hora, but there was nothing closer. In our republic, there are several crosses that were built in connection with the FJI jubilee, but each had a different text. Mr. Kun\u00e1\u0161ek approached the local parish and there he found an entry in the parish chronicle:<\/p>\n

The venerable village of Hrab\u011b\u0161\u00ednsk\u00e1 had two crosses erected at its expense and collection on October 1, 1898, in memory of the 50-year reign of our most gracious emperor and king Franti\u0161ek Josef I. 1st cross behind Hrab\u011b\u0161\u00edn in the highlands by the road to Krchleb\u016f, iron, gilded on a stone base . 2. a cross made of Ho\u0159ovice sandstone near the school with the inscription:<\/p>\n

In commemoration of the fifty-year reign of His Majesty Emperor and King Francis Joseph I.<\/p>\n

By comparing the partial inscriptions on the cross and the entry from the parish chronicle, Mr. Kun\u00e1\u0161ek compiled the following text:<\/p>\n

Praised be the Lord<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jesus Christ<\/strong><\/p>\n

The village of Hrab\u011b\u0161\u00edn<\/strong><\/p>\n

she donated in memory of the fifty-year reign<\/strong><\/p>\n

Francis Joseph I.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

1848 – 1898<\/strong><\/p>\n

The cross with the restored inscription was ceremonially unveiled on 22\/09\/2018 in the presence of Mr. Karl Schwarnzerberg<\/p>\n

Several months of searching paid off. Another monument to Emperor FJI will be preserved.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
