Linden trees<\/h1>\n

Tree festival in honor of the 60th anniversary of the reign of Emperor and King of Bohemia Franti\u0161ek Josef I.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Kosteln\u00ed Lhota is a village located in the district of Nymburk, about 7 km south of Nymburk and 7 km from Pod\u011bbrady.<\/p>\n

Its linden alley has its own special story, from which we know the exact date of planting the trees.
\nAccording to the entry in the school chronicle, which was made by the head teacher Josef Kroupa, on the afternoon of November 5, 1908, in the village of Kosteln\u00ed Lhota, a tree ceremony was held in honor of the 60th anniversary of the reign of the Emperor and Czech king Francis Joseph I. During this ceremony, according to the school, the students planted a linden tree alley. The alley consists of 6 trees. The circumference of the strongest linden at breast height is 346 cm. In 2008, when 100 years had passed since this event, the village chronicler submitted the alley to the national Tree of the Year survey. Although our alley did not advance to the finals, it received the \"Hero Tree\" award from the regional jury. This award was given to our ancestors, the school children who planted linden trees a hundred years ago under the guidance of the then manager.<\/p>\n

For the hundredth anniversary of the alley, the municipality had a commemorative plaque made. On the eve of October 28, 2008, a parade was organized from the fire station with music and banners of the municipality, firefighters and the national flag. At the elementary school, after a speech by the village chronicler, Mr. Zde\u0148ko Mart\u00ednek, a commemorative plaque was unveiled, on which there is an abbreviated version of the entry in the school chronicle. To complete the history, the music played \"Save us the Lord\" and \"Bohemia the beautiful\". Then the participants went to the monument to the fallen, where the mayor JUDr Svatava Vronsk\u00e1 reminded the 90th anniversary of the declaration of our independent statehood. The ceremony ended with the anthem \"Where is my home\".<\/p>\n
