Commemorative plaques for the imperial maneuvers in 1894.<\/h1>\n<\/div>\n

The town of Lan\u0161kroun (Landskron in German) is located in the foothills of the Eagle Mountains, in eastern Bohemia, not far from the historical border with Moravia. It is located in the wide valley of Moravsk\u00e1 S\u00e1zava, framed by forested highlands. There is a system of ponds near the town.<\/p>\n

On the territory between the villages of Albrechtice, Nepomuky, S\u00e1zava, Rudoltice, \u017dichl\u00ednek, Jakubovice, Ostrov, T\u0159e\u0161\u0148ovec, Damn\u00edkov, Lukov\u00e1 and Rychnov, imperial maneuvers took place on September 3-6, 1894. The I. and IX Army Corps fought against each other.<\/p>\n

As a reminder of the imperial visit, commemorative plaques were placed in the halls of some important buildings in Lan\u0161kroun. It was, for example, a plaque located in the vestibule of the gymnasium, which was ceremoniously unveiled on September 4, 1895, then in the villa of the manufacturer Langer, or in the burgher and weaving school.<\/p>\n

These maneuvers of the imperial army took place on 2-6 September 1894 in Lan\u0161kroun. But I couldn't find much information about them. They are mentioned in the Laibacher Zeitung of September 6, 1894, where the latest news telegrams state:<\/p>\n

\"Lan\u0161kroun, September 5. Today's third maneuver was rained out. After 1 o'clock in the afternoon, it started to rain heavily again on the maneuver field. Around 1 o'clock the maneuver was interrupted. The southern side seized the pass near T\u0159ebovice, and the northern side retreated to the lines of Z\u00e1meck\u00e1 hora and Tabulov\u00e1 hora near Lan\u0161kroun. The Emperor, Archdukes Karel Ludv\u00edk, Albrecht and Rainer met shortly after 1 o'clock in the afternoon in a car on the maneuver field in Lan\u0161kroun. The rain continues.\u201d<\/p>\n
