Meeting of monarchs, two monuments, commemorative spruce.<\/h1>\n

The meeting between Emperor Francis Joseph I and King Edward VII of England. On August 16, 1904, it began at the station, where the emperor, dressed in the uniform of an English admiral, greeted the king, in the uniform of an Austrian marshal. They both left in a common carriage to the WEIMAR hotel. The city looked impressive. The flags of Austria, England and Mari\u00e1nsk\u00e9 L\u00e1zn\u011b flew on all the houses. There were flower decorations and garlands everywhere. \u0160pal\u00edr from the station to the WEIMAR hotel was made up of 111 West Bohemian associations of veterans and sharpshooters, fire brigades from the area, town associations, pupils, citizens and spa guests from Mari\u00e1nsk\u00e9 L\u00e1zn\u011b. After being received by the King at the WEIMAR Hotel, the Emperor left for Villa LUGINSLAND, where the King of England left 10 minutes later. In the afternoon, the emperor received dignitaries in the Kursal, in the evening he took the King of England for a tour of the city and a gala dinner in WEIMAR with the participation of 20 dignitaries.<\/p>\n

This meeting was commemorated by a \u00a0monument called \"Meeting of the Two Emperors\". Until the creation of Czechoslovakia, it stood on the site of today's Chopin monument near the Casino social house under the colonnade of the Rudolf Spring (Fig. 1)\n\u200b<\/p>\n

The sculpture was created on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the meeting between Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria and King Edward VII of England, which took place on August 16, 1904 in Mari\u00e1nsk\u00e9 L\u00e1zn\u011b. The author of the sculptures is the sculptor Albert Kr\u00e1li\u010dek, who is based on sketches and the original design of the academic sculptor V\u00edt\u011bzslav Eibl. The sculptures were cast in the HVH Horn\u00ed Kaln\u00e1 foundry. The city of Mari\u00e1nsk\u00e9 L\u00e1zn\u011b commissioned the sculpture.
\nThe ceremonial unveiling took place during the Opening of the Spa Season 2014 in the presence of Archduke George of Habsburg-Lorraine and Prince Alexander Galitzin.<\/p>\n

The silver spruce standing in the park of the Western Catholic Church was planted to commemorate the meeting of the Austrian emperor and the English king in Mari\u00e1nsk\u00e9 L\u00e1zn\u011b in August 1904.<\/p>\n
